LAGUNA PHUKET 2011 DOUBLE TRIATHLON FESTIVAL
There’s keen worldwide interest in the 18th Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT) on 27 November and second Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship on 4 December with growing numbers of triathletes opting to take on the challenge of competing in both events, reports the events organiser.
LPT this year sold out all its 700 slots just 40 days after registration opened in March and a waiting list is now set up while the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship is more than halfway towards its target of 1,100 entries, with online registrations being received every day.
More than 140 triathletes have registered for both events - demonstrating growing worldwide enthusiasm for the triathlon double bill.
The week-long Tri-Fest between the two triathlons has activities that include a training camp focusing on recovery and race preparation conducted by Ironguides; open water swim competition; “Meet the Pros” cocktail party; speed golf tournament; Ironman Movie Night; Ironkids event at Thanyapura Sports & Leisure Club and Tri Trade Show.
The LPT is a Destination Triathlon featuring a 1.8 km. swim; 55 km. bike ride and 12 km. run. The Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship is the culmination of the World Traiathlon Corporation’s Asia-Pacific Ironman 70.3 Event Series, with a 1.9 km. swim; 90.1 km. bike ride and 21.1 km. run.
