Queens Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samuigolf Tournament 2013

Bangkok Airways, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand, Thailand PGA and Asian Tour jointly announced Thailand’s upcoming Asian Tour tournament titled Queen’s Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samui Golf Tournament 2012  at the press conference held adjacent to the green at the Santiburi Samui Country Club. The tournament is scheduled to take place between 13 – 16 June 2013 at Santiburi Samui Country Club, Samui, Suratthani. The US$300,000 (equivalent to around 10 million baht) tournament, sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Thailand PGA, is the Fourth Queen’s Cup – Asian Tour of the tournament and will be held in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways said, “We are particularly excited to have organised this tournament for the Fifth year in honour of our beloved Queen Sirikit, we have always strived to take Thai golf tournament to the international level. Moreover, the tournament is hoped to draw a larger number of golf enthusiasts which consequently will stimulate Samui’s tourism.

Nandhika Varavarn, Bangkok Airways’ Vice President – Corporate Communications and Chairman of the Tournament Committee commented, “The previous year’s tournament was very well received and was followed immensely from golf fans around the region which Samui has already become a new destination for Golf. The tournament’s pro-am will be held on 13 June 2012 to give an exclusive chance to local amateur golfers to compete with Asia’s top pros. Moreover the tournament will be broadcast live on True Sport and will be rerun on Asian Tour’s global television platform.

The tournament this year will include many famous Thai golfers. The confirmed list from Thailand includes; Thavorn Viratchan (Winner – Bangkok Airways Open 2012), Prayad Marksaeng (Volvo Masters of Asia 2007), Kiradech Aphibarnrat Sail Open, India 2011, Chaowalit Palapol (Queen’s cup 2011) Tetsuji Hiratsuka (Queen’s Cup 2010),  Angelo Que (Worldwide Holding Selangor Master 2010) and leading pros from around Asia.

Queen’s Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samui Golf Tournament 2011 is mainly sponsored by Bangkok Airways, Sport Authority of Thailand, Santiburi Samui Country Club and co-sponsored by Samui Municipal and Tourism Association of Koh Samui, Bangkok Hospital Group, PTT, Kiatnakin Fund Management, Bangkok Bank, Asian Tour, Thailand PGA, Bangkok Insurance, Sabre, Hertz Media partners are The Nation, True Visions, Bangkok Shuho and Elite magazine.
