Bangkok Airways debuts new uniform at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Bangkok / Recently Bangkok Airways today organises “Flash Mob” to officially launch the new uniform sets for all front line staffs and to mark the launch of its new in-flight safety demonstration video at Bangkok Airways’ check-in counter, Suvarnabhumi Airport. The new uniforms designed by ASAVA will be employed from May 31st, 2012 onwards.

“I and all of our staffs are thrilled to witness a complete change of our new uniforms after over 15 years service of the previous sets, this is truly another historic leap of Bangkok Airways. The new uniforms will enhance Bangkok Airways’ renowned reputation as a ‘boutique airline’ and to rejuvenate its brand”, said Puttipong Prasarttong Osoth, President.

M.L. Nandhika Varavarn, Vice President – Corporate Communications of Bangkok Airways said “We organize the “Flash Mop” to make the transformation of our boutique uniforms more exciting to passengers as well as to our staffs. This is the first time for the airline industry, also for Suvarnabhumi Airport to see over fifty airline staffs dancing together in front of our check-in counter at departure hall. And on the same day we will also launch our brand-new safety demonstration video onboard.”

“This new set of uniform designed by Khun Polpat Asavaprapha or ASAVA brand, one of the Top Thai designers, and has been launched at Bangkok Fashion Week last year.” M.L. Nandhika added.

Mr. Polpat Asavaprapha explained that “Before designing the uniforms, I needed to find what the identities of Bangkok Airways are. Blue stripes painted on the aircraft are one of the carrier’s identities. I then created stripe pattern with shades of blue and turquoise.  Silk-Poly fabric has been chosen to give a feeling of lightness and comfort to the person wearing it. Uniform for men, in grey and blue with painted cobalt stripes on the shirt emphasizes luxury, smart and informal look. This is to express the identity as a leisure airline.”

“To design clothes, apart from consideration of era and time, we also think about staffs who wear the uniform and their work. For flight-attendants who have to be quick and smart, we decided to use culottes, which will look modern and flexible” Mr. Polpat added.
