ANGSANA LAGUNA PHUKET AND ARTIST CHRISTOPHER HOGAN PAINT A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR THAI YOUNGSTERS Phuket, Thailand, December 28, 2011 – Angsana Laguna Phuket is celebrating its recent opening by inviting guests and visitors to make their mark on a charity mural designed by acclaimed Australian artist Christopher Hogan that will take pride of place in the new luxury property’s lobby. The 14 sq.m. mural will be made up of 350 tiles individually painted by guests and visitors to create a unique collage in the distinctive purple hues of Angsana Laguna Phuket’s logo colours Each tile costs THB 1,000 and the THB 350,000 raised after a deduction of equipment cost will be used to fund art scholarships for local talented Thai youngsters in schools and universities, in collaboration with Angsana Laguna Phuket and Christopher Hogan. “The finished mural will not only be a stunning centerpiece of out lobby area but also a stimulus to help gifted local youngsters take their first step on a worthwhile career path,” said Angsana Laguna Phuket general manager Jerry John. Each tile is sold to guests and visitors will be painted by them under the watchful guidance of Christopher Hogan. They will also be able to sign the finished tile to leave their permanent mark on the resort. The tiles are on sale until 27 December 2011 (?) and can be bought in either Angsana Laguna Phuket, where Christopher Hogan holds free children painting lessons for resort’s guests. Each tile purchase also includes a chance to choose the mural’s name. The winning entry immortalise this piece of artwork – and also win the lucky person three nights’ accommodation in Angsana Laguna Phuket. Christopher Hogan, a world-renowned artist recognised for his unique abstract paintings, has also been Artist-in-Residence at the Laguna Phuket Summer Family Festivals where he staged art classes for local schoolchildren and helped raise thousands of baht for Laguna Phuket’s community programmes. The Mural will be developed as a collage of 350 tiles,each painted by a different person under the watchful guidance of Christopher Hogan.This creates a masterpiece of 350 artists,all of whom leave their mark on Angsana Laguna phuket. Each tile is painted and signed by a different guest.Its main purpose is to raise money and begin an art development program for talented local Thai schoolchildren. Tiles can be bought on site, where Christopher Hogan holds free kids painting lessons for hotel guests, or at canal village in his gallery. All proceeds from the tile sale will be used to develop a new art scholarship program for locally gifted children who will benefit from Christopher Hogan s ongoing help. Each tile purchase also includes a chance to choose the mural s name.
