Queens Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samuigolf Tournament 2013 Bangkok Airways, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand, Thailand PGA and Asian Tour jointly announced Thailand’s upcoming Asian Tour tournament titled Queen’s Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samui Golf Tournament 2012 at the press conference held adjacent to the green at the Santiburi Samui Country Club. The tournament is scheduled to take place between 13 – 16 June 2013 at Santiburi Samui Country Club, Samui, Suratthani. The US$300,000 (equivalent to around 10 million baht) tournament, sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Thailand PGA, is the Fourth Queen’s Cup – Asian Tour of the tournament and will be held in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways said, “We are particularly excited to have organised this tournament for the Fifth year in honour of our beloved Queen Sirikit, we have always strived to take Thai golf tournament to the international level. Moreover, the tournament is hoped to draw a larger number of golf enthusiasts which consequently will stimulate Samui’s tourism. M.L. Nandhika Varavarn, Bangkok Airways’ Vice President – Corporate Communications and Chairman of the Tournament Committee commented, “The previous year’s tournament was very well received and was followed immensely from golf fans around the region which Samui has already become a new destination for Golf. The tournament’s pro-am will be held on 13 June 2012 to give an exclusive chance to local amateur golfers to compete with Asia’s top pros. Moreover the tournament will be broadcast live on True Sport and will be rerun on Asian Tour’s global television platform. Mr. Kanokphand Chulakasem Director of Professional Sports Competitions Division, Sport Authority of Thailand, “Queen’s Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samui Golf Tournament 2012 is one of the major golf tournaments of each year that continually and significantly helps develop Thai golfer to the next level. คณะกรรมการจัดการแข่งขันไตรกีฬาระยะไกลประกาศยกเลิกการจัดงาน “2013 Phuket ITU Long Distance Triathlon” คณะกรรมการจัดไตรกีฬาระยะไกล “2013 Phuket ITU Long Distance Triathlon” ประกาศยกเลิกการจัดการแข่งขัน ซึ่งตามกำหนดการเดิม งานดังกล่าวจะจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 9-10 พ.ย. 2556 ที่บริเวณหาดป่าตอง จ.ภูเก็ต โดยจะมีการแข่งขันไตรกีฬาทั้งสองวันรวมถึง การแข่งขันไตรกีฬาระยะไกลภายใต้สหพันธ์ไตรกีฬานานาชาติ หรือ International Triathlon Union (ITU) ครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย
โดยงานนี้นับเป็นการแข่งขันระดับนานาชาติ ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในซีรีย์ของการแข่งขันไตรกีฬาระยะไกลที่จะจัดขึ้นทั่วโลกของสหพันธ์ไตรกีฬานานาชาติ และได้มีการกำหนดช่วงเวลาการจัดงานนี้ที่ภูเก็ตไว้ในช่วงเดือนพฤศจิกายน 2556 ทั้งนี้ ด้วยข้อจำกัดบางประการที่อยู่นอกเหนือการควบคุมของคณะกรรมการการจัดการแข่งขันฯ จึงมีความเห็นว่า การจะจัดงานใหญ่ระดับโลกนี้ให้มีมาตรฐานระดับสูงตามที่ ITU ได้กำหนดไว้นั้น คงจะไม่สามารถกระทำได้ทันภายในเวลาที่กำหนด คณะกรรมการฯ มีความเสียใจอย่างยิ่งที่ต้องประกาศยกเลิกการแข่งขันครั้งนี้ และจะทำการพิจารณาถึงความเป็นไปได้
